What date night at prison island looks like
If the type of couple who race each other to finish Wordle first, love gaming, are always outdoing each other on Strava, or just love having a bit of craic, you’re in for a date like no other.
Imagine stepping into a world where every room poses a new challenge, urging you and your partner to think critically and work together. Couples can immerse themselves in a series of thrilling escape rooms, each designed to test your wits and smarts. These aren’t your average puzzles; they require sharp thinking and quick collaboration. It’s a race against the clock, where every second counts, as you whizz between rooms to build points.
Visitors rave about the immersive experience that transports them into a world of mystery. It’s why we’ve been featured yet again by TripAdvisor in their 2025 Traveller’s Choice Awards.
What can couples do at Prison Island
We are a multi-activity venue, offering an unbeatable mix of games and puzzles that you’ll love. Our main activities include
Prison Island
31 cells providing a mixture of challenges. You’ll test your reflexes, wits, agility, and so much more. It’s a gaming concept built for couples from the ground up.
Axe Yard
Axe throwing is really common in Belfast these days, so we wanted to create something a bit different and way more exciting. Axe Yard uses real axes on interactive screens. What’s the mean? Instead of just a classic bullseye style target, we can have quizzes/connect four/ tic-tac-toe, and so many other games. It’s also an 18+ game, so perfect for a date.
Think Box
This is where being a couple in sync can work wonders. Craft quizzers love Think Box. You’re in a race against time to beat as many puzzles as possible and unlock boxes to get tokens. It’s unique for Belfast and is an amazing bonding activity – great for a second or third date idea.
Quiz Boxing
Are you one of those couples who will shout over each other on the sofa when watching quizzes on TV? Always find that you’re highly competitive at pub quizzes? Take it to the next level at Quiz Boxing. Made for 4-12 players, you step inside the Quiz Boxing Arena and try to prove who knows their stuff. The game has added features, so it isn’t just about answering questions; it’s about trying to make a KO to win.

What makes us the best spot for a date
Prison Island isn’t just another entertainment venue; it’s a place where fun, challenge, and teamwork collide. This isn’t your ordinary dinner-and-movie routine; it’s an exhilarating experience that strengthens bonds and creates memories.
Couples rave about the sense of adventure that escapes the mundane, making it a perfect date night. The unique setting offers a comfortable environment for both first dates and long-term partners, ensuring everyone feels welcome and engaged.
Our commitment to providing a memorable experience makes us a top choice for romantic outings. We understand that a date night should be special, offering more than just the usual dinner date or cinema experience. At Prison Island, you embark on an unforgettable adventure, creating a night to remember.
The best spot in Belfast for double dates?
We often find that our experiences and activities work amazingly when couples are on double dates. Pairing up to take each other on gets extremely competitive. Double dates and couples booked in as a group seem to absolutely LOVE Quiz Boxing. Because it’s so immersive and designed for couples to compete against each other (a bit like Pointless, The Hit List and those types of shows)
We’re not the only date night spot in town, so let’s spread the love

Helping our inmates from afar
We’re coming to Belfast for a romantic weekend. What should be on our list of must-visit places?
Obviously, put us top of the list, but to get a true sense of the city, take a stroll through St George’s Market on Saturday or Sunday morning —you will not believe how good the food is. Take the time to visit a museum – Ulster Museum isn’t too far from us, and the wee walk around the Palm house and Botanic Gardens where it’s located are just so lovely.
We’re culture vultures, where else in Belfast should we go?
Definitely make a point of visiting the Cathedral Quarter in town at some point. The Mac is a gorgeous art gallery, and the streets around it are some of the most lively in town during the weekend.
